Here is a Winamp 2.xx Equalizer Plugin from Nakaoki Shibata,
one of the persons we can applaud what he did for mp3 quality that the lame encoder delivers these days. http://shibatch.sourceforge.net/ This is Windows only but worth a try. It uses 16383th order FIR filters. (Whatever that means)

doesn't aRts in linux have a pretty advanced processing ability? like a multi-band parametric or graphic EQ, time delay, and more?
any opionion on what the best linux-friendly soundcard and modules are? i definatly noticed a difference in linux compared to windows in terms of sonics. linux seemed to have a more bassy sound where the sound in windows seemed more realistic, i don't know if that should be attributed to hardware or software, but it definatly was noticable.
