LM317K upgrade?? Higher Current??

I have a large mixing console that uses a Pair of LM317K TO-3 type Adjustable V-regs for the +/- 17V rails. The mixer draws about 1.25 amps from each rail. pretty close to the 1.5amp rating of the 317K device.

I need to replace both regs as a power spike killed them. So i am wondering before i place a purchase, if there is a drop in repalcement rated for a bit more current?? maybe 2 amps or so just to increas the margin.

Early revisions of this supply had a pass device for each side as well at the 317K but at some point they revised the supply and took that part out and changed the board.

LM338, 5Amps? Check pin outs though

YES!!! that looks to be a pin for pin drop in replacement. specs look nearly identical! Thanks!!!
