Default USB micro-rant

You would think that by now Windows would have a way to gracefully recover from the dreaded "USB device plugged in before install disk". I'm sure some vendors are better than others, but I just wasted two hours getting something stable and recognized after a false start.

Hear hear!

And, as the only properly working solution to the problem, here's to the smart manufacturers who include the drivers on a Mass Storage Device embedded in the product!

I second that!
I recently installed a USB dongle for mobile internet with built-in drivers. Plug in, sit back and wait til it finished and away we go.
Compare that to the hassle involved in installing my HP all-in-one printer !!!!

Did you get it working? I turns out HP requires an upgrade to Java be installed on your browser to install all the features on some 3 in1's. This fact was not documented anywhere nor makes any intuitive sense.
