How do the Bose 3-2-1 GS Series work?

Hello. As I was watching a little TV today I came across an infomercial about the new Bose 321 Series and was intrigued that its surround sound came from just 2 front satellites and a subwoofer? I was wondering if anyone came across how they worked? I did an exponential amount of research and found nothing about the insides of the speakers, schematics, and so on. If you know how these work please let me know as it will be one of my projects to try something like this and see how it turns out in the end.

It will invariably end up one of the DSP synthesized HRTF techniques. Some TV shows use it, its ability to cast sound behind you is uncanny. There must be some references on the web.
