Cables, again ... cables ! it's always a cables problem !
I changed the unbalanced cable with a better (and more expensive) one and the difference became more subtle.
Difference is still a <slight edge on transparency and bottom end extension> (not "very, very", but "almost"), but situations highly improved.
Perhaps the new combination CD Player-Amplifier requires really good (unbalanced) interconnect cables. I guess that with an MIT (unbalanced) cable things would be even better.
So, I shall stay with my 50€ Xindak XLR cable.
