Default Audio Precisions Basics

I just scored a deal with a local studio to do some repair work for them for being able to use there Audio Precision System One from time to time (i get paid too but...)

So, looking for tips, tricks, starters etc.

many years ago i have one of the first Ap portables, but its been so long i don't remember much about it.

These are new owners of this studio so I know the AP1 box is there. but i would imagine i need the software and PC interface etc?? how does the box connect to a PC.

I will go to AP's website and see if i can find the manuals and what not

You need an interface and cable to connect it up to the PC. System One neeeds either PCA card or a PCMCIA card. Your first priority is to sort that out.

You can download the S1.exe software from AP, you need to register then go to the legacy download section. I believe the last published version is 2.24. You can run S1.exe in demo mode to wet your appetite

The good thing is that the new owners of this place understand the value of whats there so that havent thrown ANYTHING out. they are clearing out closest and shelves and organizing whats there so i have no doubt that the cable and interface is there. just a matter of sorting out where. so thats good.

I will go get the software and get it loaded on a machine here.

Thanks

I managed to get back over to the studio today and found that the Ap System one is connected to an old laptop. that the cable and PCMCIA card is all there. they even have the book and manuals around. So thats a good plus. I went to AP's website and downloaded everything i could find. But i don't see the system one listed anywhere on there site. May have to give them a call. for now i have some reading to do and I need to get them a new laptop to run the thing from. but its a start

The software is on the legacy page:

http://ap.com/software/legacy_software.htm (scroll down to APWIN). The current version is 2.24.

The manuals are here:

http://archive.ap.com/index.php?page...&id=1000000149

It's also usefull to leaf through the Tech Notes as there is a lot of S1 stuff in there, plus principles that are vaild for any system.

Probably best to get the software going first and do some basic measurements. It needs getting used to, the DOS base is still visible.
