It isn't necessary to zip PDF files. I see a lot of people making zip files containing only one PDF file, and this is just wasted effort. For example, two PDF schematics from two different Aleph-X threads have been posted as zip files, with a total compression of less than 6%. PDF has pretty good built-in compression, so zip should only be used to hold more than one related file.
