Default UK Freeview and NIT's

Anyone been affected by the change in the format of transmission of the Freeview signal currently being rolled out nationwide.
Many receivers now failing due to inability to correctly decode the new split NIT (network information table). My understanding is that the receivers in question -- also including expensive IDTV's etc -- were not fully compliant with the DVBT format.
Many of these products were advertised as future proof and digital ready.

Location: A life on the ocean waves when I'm not at home in N. Wales (but I'm not Welsh so no sheep jokes!)
The thing I have noticed is that over the last 8 weeks or so, the signal strength, here in N. Wales from the Granada transmitter, has been reduced to practically zero.

I have now given up on terrestrial and have a sat dish installed.

Hi,
That sounds like a different issue really. The changes to the NIT have serious and far reaching implications. Google freeview and nit etc
In my own case an £800 3.5 year old Sony IDTV will not now tune in to digital channels. I have spoken to Sony who are very aware of the problem. An over air download may be available at some future date to correct this but when the TV has lost ALL multiplexes as a result of a rescan it is impossible to ever obtain the download.
An older Daewoo set top box is now totally useless. Again do a bit of digging and there are 1000's affected. Why NO news coverage.
Yesterday I tried to set a Panasonic DVD to record BBC4. It's missing from the channel lineup. Rescan and half the multiplexes are missing. Whole blocks of channels not there.
The Freeview website as of last week had a tiny note to the affect that certain changes may render "old" (What a 3.5 year old TV and 2 year old DVD) obsolete and they would have to be replaced. A case for the "Sale of goods act" if ever there was one. These products appear not to be compliant with the DVBT standard.
Will keep you updated !

Bit of coverage in the press today. They still say it's only early set top boxes affected which is untrue quoting around 250,000 units.

Sony fixed today. Downloaded new software via CAM port. All seems OK. All MUX's recognised and stored. Well done Sony UK.

Further update, Panasonic contacted me today out of the blue, after initially denying there was any problem with my model of DVD recorder (2 year old ) they are now aware of the problem with the split NIT and trying to find a solution -- presumably an O.A.D.
