Does anybody have a source or idea for cheap cable that can used for DIY balanced interconnects (3 pin XLR)? I hate the idea of using network cable because of all the bulk created by unused pairs. STP with fewer conductors is pricey though because of low demand at retail level.

I used 22ga teflon (PTFE) covered silver-plated solid copper, bought from ApexJr.
Braided it, soldered to some vampire XLRs. No shielding at all.
Went for that option because its super cheap, and I needed 2x pairs of long (3m) interconnects for biamping.
Works perfectly!!!

:D
