Hello DIYs,
Anybody who knows a superb, yet not expensive, room acoustics analysis software? For smaller and larger rooms (e.g. 1000 m2 and irregular rooms). Thanks, Jesper |

No personal experience but I've seen it recommended here before. |

Thanks Code,
- looks like a very interesting software yet could it be for a somewhat different purpose ... I was thinking of a software that may be used to analyze standing waves, resonances, frequency response, decay etc. of different shapes of a room/hall prior to actually building it. Any suggestions for this? Jesper

@ gentlevoice,
traditionally acoustical simulation software is focused to large room acoustics like convention halls and churches. Normally very expensive and very demanding regarding processing computer power, but today there is some hope for normal users. ![]() The first idea could be something like cara, which isn´t expensive but gives some useful results: www.cara.de the next one in the "below professional" price range is: http://www.aist.aaanet.ru/ Some of the bigger packages offer restricted demo versions that still could be useful: www.catt.se www.ramsete.com www.odeon.dk Wishes |

Thank you for your reply. Unless this thread is also of interest to others I will take some time now to evaluate the suggestions you have been so kind to give me.
Regards, Jesper |

Another excellent option is the "Room EQ Wizard", a Java-based GUI application that only requires that your system have a reasonably current Java runtime environment installed (there's link for the Java runtime envionment on the download page for the "Room EQ Wizard"). Room EQ Wizard is an application for measuring room responses and correcting modal resonances. It includes tools for generating test signals; measuring SPL; measuring frequency and impulse responses; generating spectral-decay plots, waterfalls and energy-time curves; displaying equalizer responses and automatically adjusting the settings of parametric equalizers to counter the effects of room modes. A more complete description is available at the following URL:
http://www.hometheatershack.com/roomeq/ In addition, the Web site also offers pre-built calibration configuration files for a number of low-cost/reasonable-cost measurement microphones. The "Room EQ Wizard" application is available as a free download for registered forum members at the following site; registration is also free (although donations are readily accepted): http://www.hometheatershack.com/ Once you have registered, you can proceed to the download area at the following URL: http://www.hometheatershack.com/forums/downloads-area/
