My 'not fully educated on the specific subject' thoughts would be the calculation of the calorimetric loss in the fluid vis-vis thermal transfer issues. That can only be approximated so much, is my conclusion. And if you are that critical and that close, it's gonna play at the heart of what you are trying to get to, ie, accuracy. But I'm sure you are well aware of all this anyway. oh..I see the disc is gone. I guess the best you can hope for in the long run is having only funny stories and and a battle scar.

Thanks KBK, feeling better today already!
Actually the disc isn't gone... the disc is still quite thick and robust. All that is gone is the portion that tried to invade the spinal canal. I've had 3 bad discs... out of 360 degress to protrude... each one has decided to head right for the spinal cord! Yep... calimetry is a pain... I do it on some stuff... but it just a pain. Stray heat loss, parasistic/assorted heat capacities, and test time, just make it a PITA... pure and simple. |

Good to see you're back. Glad it went well.

You can also try stainless flux. I use it for soldering to nichrome as well as stainless steel. Takes some technique, but I get a really good coat of solder on both. Once you've coated the wire, you can easily solder the coated section. (do a good cleaning after you've coated the wire though, before the final solder.) Quote:

Thanks John,
I haven't messed with trying to solder a sample yet... but those tips sound on the mark. I am just trying to get through the day and 400 emails without drugs... OUCH! |
