I just finished my gainclone and would like to connect it to the speakers. Problem is, that I still want to use my Denon receiver and I have only one pair of speakers. So currently I have to unplug the speakers from the receivers and plug them into gainclone to listen to my new amp. Then back to Denon for radio.
So I am looking for a schematic (mostly parts list) that will allow me to build an output selector (if that's the correct name for this kind of device). I have also a speaker protection circuit that I would like to include in that new box (this is already built). It doesn't have to be remote operated circuit though if the price is not outrageous, it would be nice to have this feature. Otherwise, I would be happy with something with two switches (amp A and amp B) and maybe some LEDs to show me which source is selected. I know that this will distort the sound and that I can probably buy something like that in the store but I am not that picky about the music (as long as the CD is not scratched) and this is DIY forum, right? Thanks. |

What you want to do is wire in a pre-amp output from the denon.
If the gainclone has a volume control you can just use a tape-out from the Denon. To get the best sonics you might want to add a second set of inputs on the GC and add a DPDT selector switch to select either what is coming out of the Denon or what is plugged intot he GC (ie CD player) dave

planet10,
With this setup, would I change the volume on GC or Denon? If GC, then I can't do that because of simple wife acceptance factor. She will not want to adjust volume without the remote. That's why, I thought of building a solution that sits on the output of the two amps. I do not think I am a high level audiophile that would notice a sound difference with an extra splitter before the speakers. Thanks. |
