Default panasonic electret mic amplification question

got the mics, got a maudio transit, from what i read it says it supplies 5v of power for electret mics. got it plugged in and i dont get anything, am i doing somthing wrong? do these mics not work with the power supplied from the transit.

The web site specs say it accepts "self=powered" mics and refers to the input as a line in.

Didn't see anything about an electret supply. You may need to add your own. Quite easy really: 2 x AA cells, a 2 to 5Kohm resistor and a 2.2uF cap. The mic will work with either polarity but the correct polarity will give lower distortion. Put the +ve of the cap to the mic-resistor connection, -ve to line in.

thank you for your reply. its in the manual where it states it supplies power.

i think i have it working at the moment, but i might just build the simple power supply because the volume is quite low when recording.

Hmm, the M-Audio Transit supplies 2.5V mic power to an electret mic. by default. At least mine does And any electret mic capsule works straight away with it.

But here is a schematic for a mic to power it externally. I made it for the IBF Akustik mic which also uses a Panasonic electret capsule and was calibrated at 2V and 2K2 load.
