diy: acoustic panel

Ok, here's the deal:

I moved into this apartment not too long ago. The acoustics are, to use an understatement, less than perfect. When I clap my hands, I hear the sound echoing between the walls, and I think that bass response is uneven as well.

So, looking for a solution, I came across two websites: http://www.angelfire.com/sports/RCcars/acoustic_panels.htm and http://www.ethanwiner.com/acoustics.html. These sites are discussing diy acoustic panels. The panels themselves are filled with rigid fiberglass, and it is stated that Owens Corning 703 or 705 is preferred. So I asked at several local home improvement stores, but they do not have Owens Corning. However, I did came across Knauf TP 416. According to the Knauf website, it is effective as both a thermal and an acoustic insulator.

But I still don't know its density, and I haven't found anyone else building acoustic panels using this particular product. So, does anyone here have experience creating this kind of panel, and if so, do you know if Knauf TP 416 is suitable?

Thanks in advance.
