Default Free simulation software from AD and NI

This is an outstanding free simulator and schematic capture program.

This Analog Devices/National Instruments version is limited to 25 parts and there are some other limitations, but it is well worth having.

For newbies, it's a great way to learn about electronics without any smoke and flames.

Check it out.

This represents 5 or 6 years of fighting with the powers that be. On general priciple I'm opposed to too many limitations, but it looks better than I had expected. Please send any comments on this with reference to other offerings.

Why is Analog Devices risking their good reputation by associating themselves with a screwed up company like National Instruments?

There's a lot of test engineers that are extremely PO'ed at them.

I've been using Multisim Pro for some weeks now and it is very nice. I like all of the virtual test equipment it comes with. I'm having a bit of a hard time learning it's partner Ultiboard though.

Well, the ADI/NI version is worth downloading as Analog has put a lot more models than were available through their website -- and other goodies as well.

.... not now, probably never....

Maybe you'll have to put in Windows in your Mac like I have done.

What seems to be the problem you're having with UB?

Anyone that ever had some hands-on experience with UB knows. It is one of the most counter intuitive programs I have ever seen in this area.

Recently I have had some hands-on experience with Protel. Not easy to master but compared to Protel, UB is toy.

The professional version of Multisim will finally cost you nearly a 5000,- euros. If it is a upgraded version of EW then there is much better on the marked for that price IMO.

Cheers

I use Multisim and Ultiboard daily -- National Instruments has really helped them clean it up -- the only problem I have with UB is trying to place TO-3 devices on the bottom of a board -- for some reason this still cause the viewing utility to crash.
