I am a new member with limited technical skills. After purchasing a very nice LCD television I find myself still aggravated with the up and down volume between programs and commercials. Sooooooooo, my question is can any device sold these days automatically limit the output volume to my level choice. Also the device would have to automatically add volume if the signal drops below level choice.
I apologize if this has been discussed previously, just point me in the right direction. tia, bob |

What you need is a compressor/limiter to tame the high volume adverts back down to the normal programme level. This would have to go inbetween the audio output of your TV and the amp. There's nothing you can do if you just want to use the TV speakers.

Your TV may have some setting to fix that... read the manual and troll through the menus carefully. It might be called something like "smart sound".
