Upgrading from celeron to p4 ?
 

I have a Sony Vaio running a 1.7g celeron processor. I have
a 1.7g p4 processor. Would this be a plug and play upgrade
or would I need to change motherboard jumpers?

Are they pin compatible?

Get a program called CPU-Z (cpu-z has no spyware and it is free)
It will identify the CPU, pin package and motherboard.

Once you know what motherboard it is you can look up what CPUs it supports, most likely if it supports celeron 1.7 it probably support p4 1.7 from the same generation
