Just in the last couple of weeks, I've had problems with IE 6 locking up while on this site.
I've grabbed all the latest updates, still doing it. Not everytime, just certain threads seems to give it kittens. ![]() Anyone else having problems, or is it just my POS computer? Mark

Hi Bikeman,
My browser does not lock up but I have to use frequently the refresh or reloadbutton on top of the screen. Otherwise I get a totally white screen. This is since the latest blackout of the forum. Also the emailsystem seems to be down.

White screen:
I use 2 computers with IE6. It happens just as you describe on the one with XP, but not on the one with 2K. (Different ISP's though). Email: You mean this? Fatal error: Call to undefined function: stripsession() in /disk3/hosted/diyaudio.com/htdocs/forums/member.php on line 1481 Mmm... |

Hmm...strange.
For me: W2k/IE6 - no Problems at all. Mac OS 9.x/IE5.1.6 - no problems at all. |

Same with me, and in fact I was beginning to think I might have picked up some bug or something.
Going from one page to another, the screen sometimes goes white and as I have some software (Net Medic) which lets you interrogate the current Internet activity, I checked this when the problems were apparent, and it showed the activity as being "Idle". This usually means there is no response from the site you are trying to access. The "Address" header at the top of the screen seems to look OK, so my system is trying to access the next page, or whatever, so it seems like it is a problem with the Forum's software. I had been considering posting this info/concern before, as this has gone on now for over a week, but as there were some problems a while ago when we all got "banned", I assumed that it was a legacy of this, and didn't wish to grumble too soon. In every case, after 'refreshing' the problem is overcome, so it is more of a nuisance than a real problem, and the Forum is usually so reliable, that I consider that we are very fortunate. In case it helps in tracking down the problem, I am using Windows 98 SE, and Explorer 6.1. Regards,

The forum is undergoing major changes right at the moment and some little glitches have popped up.. When you have a problem, just let me know and I get onto it ASAP. I'll start a new forum for this. EDIT: The new forum is here. As a side note, alot of the problems of blank screens and images not showing can be fixed by doing a hard refresh (F5) or clearing the browser cache. |
