I found 4 reels of what i think is paper based reel to reel tape made by 3m scotch brand. these have a whitish back with black face. they are the oldest tapes i have ever seen.
I i think it was Agfa that first started making paper tape. then, JT mullins brought over the first two reel to reel decks smuggled out of germany, i thought it was magnetophone or ampex that made the first US decks. but who made the first tape? was it 3M??? Any collectors of this stuff out there? Zc |

"Pfleumer's invention used an iron oxide powder coating on a long strip of paper. This invention was further developed by the German electronics company AEG, which manufactured the recording machines and BASF, which manufactured the tape."
