Polar measurements of loudspeakers are discussed repeatedly in this forum.
If one wants a certain degree of resolution, this measurements are time-consuming and annoying.

For this reason one can find some tools and software for simplification of measurement

- http://www.artalabs.hr/AppNotes/ARTA-H&T-D1.01.pdf (page 48 to 53)

One proposal for a tool for a fully automatic measurement of polar data was presented by Wim in this forum.
http://www.diyaudio.com/forums/equi...otary-table-automatic-polar-measurements.html

We have taken up the proposal of Wim and transferred it to a version which could be handled by any diy guy with two hands.
Wim allowed us to use his software (Thanks Wim!), Dougie provides the control board, the mechanics was done by me and last but not least Ivo programmed the interface to ARTA.

In Germany there are some 20 pieces under construction or allready finished.
At the moment the description of the projekt is just in german language, but with a lot of pictures and sketches (translation coming soon).

If here someone is interested in building this turntable let us know.

ARTA Turntable

Hi George,

the cost for the major parts (ball bearing with gear rim, pinion, motor with encoder, assembled and programmed pcb) will be roundabout 200,00 €.
You will find the supply sources in the linked paper in table 1 (hardware & tools).

ARTA Turntable

Hi,

translation will take some more days because i am very busy at the moment.

Meanwhile some additional information for interested diy guys:
Doing measurements with the turntable is real fun: 90° with 1° Resolution will last roundabout 360 seconds (incl. export of frd file, see also attachment).

The main sources for parts are mentioned in the german paper:

ball bearing with gear rim >>> Drehkranz Alu-Druckguss 330 mm verzinkt | Alu-Druckguss | Drehkränze | Hefter Fertigungstechnik

pinion >>> Artikel 21801100 - Stirnzahnrad aus Stahl mit Nabe Modul 1,5 11 Zähne Zahnbreite 15mm Außendurchmesser 19,5mm

motor with Encoder >>> https://nodna.de/Metal-Gearmotor-12VDC-with-64-CPR-Encoder-80rpm-6mm-Axis or
https://nodna.de/Gear-Motor-12V-84Kg-cm-28rpm-139-1-with-encoder

assembled and programmed pcb >>> HiFi Measurement
