I have Tenma Variac, that has an isolation xmer & w/ a amp meter & volt meter all in one. I think it's limit is 5 amps which takes care of most audio repairs. As you go along you'll find out what your needs are. Your going to have to spend money, cheap equipment can be pure agravation. A decent size table or bench is needed & comfee chair/stool. If your short tempered, I'd stay away electonic repairs....
