Now im aware SPL meters arent up to alot now a days, with ARTA and the like, but I am wondering if an SPL meter can actually show me anything useful about the speaker in my room.
Im aware I cannot separate the room resp from the driver response, but is there anything at all of use that a SPL plot using a meter can show me?

Maybe... First, you might be surprised at the actual SPL levels you use. You might also find spots in the room where the level drops away due to reflections. I can certainly observe that with a meter and a test tone.

To start i ran a plot up to around 2k using a mobile app. Its certainly not very accurate, but i can borrow a good pro SPL meter, this was a dry run. Speaker and meter placement would greatly impact the result id imagine, and reflections and room modes would be in the jumble of a result too, at a guess. Seeing swings of 20db makes me believe the room is the greater part of what im seeing. Thanks Mooly.
