I've gotten one of these for free and can't figure out how to use it, it might be broken(that's why I got it free).
The values jump all over the place, no matter how I try to use the "zero" knob. Tried to measure a brand new Mundorf Mcap 8,2uF, values jumps relatively close to that capacitance for a while then they start rising. almost imposible to keep within the 20uF range...sooner or later the overload (-1) symbol appears. Already checked the fuse and put a fresh battery in it. Any advise is greatly appreciated!

Try measuring some smaller caps, like film caps. .001uf, .01uf, .047uf, etc. How does that work out?
In the photo, is the meter set for 20 millifarad range? |

I've tried measuring a 1000pF russian mil.spec silver mica too.
Closest range I got without getting the overload symbol in seconds was the 20uF range for a 8,2uF Mcap. But it only showed 8,2uF what appeared to be randomly a few times, and no longer than the other values it jumped between. After a while it always climbs up while jumping from value to value on the display. |

I have a similar meter and the rotary switch gets a bad contact sometimes.
If I fully rotate it a few times it clears the problem.

I'll give that a try to before binning the meter.
