I have the operators manual.

What i need is a repair/service manual or at least a schematic.

Thanks for trying to help.

Odd that Agilent doesn't offer the service... As I recall the 3582A was one of those analyzers that had the combo digital / analog display that were such a pain to work on. Look on the back for a video out and see if your signal is present there. If so look for a manual for the display itself. It has all sorts of self tests on it. As long as you have any clear characters on the screen it's fixable. If the CRT or HV goes, it's toast. I've got some boards from a couple I could maybe dig out if you run into parts problems.

The person i talked to at HP considered the unit old and i wasnt a prefered big money customer.

I suspect that some kind of amplifier card has died.

The input section is working cause i can see the overload leds going on/off if i switch range.

The display lights up and text is working but no measuring beam is showing up.

Ill try and rip it apart for optical inspection.

Perhaps a bad connection or solder joint further inside on the backplane.

As I suspected, it does appear to be one of those units that uses the HP digital display. (Also the 3562A dynamic process analyzer). The display unit itself is an HP1345A and op-service manual is available for free download from Agilent. If you don't have it, you should get it. As the display itself has a number of self tests.

Im slowly working through the cards in the 3582a one by one.

Its old, the components scream vintage .

So far no obvious disasters, a card riser would have been nice though.
