Paper aides screw starting
I was assembling my amp yesterday for the last time after all the listening and tweaks using different filter capacitors and I found that I cannot insert the stainless steel screws at the bottom of the copper shield for the toroidal transformer with the trafo inclined. Whatever tool I tried with, won't help as I have nearly straight approach to the holes. I have a screw starter for the big headed screws-the one u fit the screw on twisting a spring loaded tip.
I have many hand tools, and I remembered I had a screw starter with a claw. It's one claw was broken and the tool, not to be found. Suddenly, I remembered an ex colleague's trick. Just used 2 plies of small paper and sandwiched it between the screwdriver and the screw head. The screw holds on like it is pasted. Wow, it really works . Gajanan Phadte |
I've used a loop of bus wire as well.
