Canadian Tire occasionally has great deals on sets of carbide bits. They didn't appear to be much worse than the Freud bits I own, each of which cost me more than the router (pawnshop B&D Pro (Elu, like the DeWalt but not yellow)). However, Canadian Tire is sourcing more tools from China now instead of Taiwan, which probably means quality will suffer.

I go to a woodwooking show up in Baltimore, 1/2" carbide bits $5 bucks, 5 for $20.
btw, there is a perfect bit by Amana for speaker folks, the 47096, bearings top and bottom, i.e can flush cut or "copy". It's $40 but well worth it. Down Shear Trim Router Bits with Upper Ball Bearing by Amana Tool *The show is open today, may go back. |
