Back in the late 60's when I was doing my apprenticeship in the UK, we used to have 240v mains connection boxes for leads without plugs fitted. They were rectangular black Bakelite boxes with a hinged lid containing a double pole knife switch. When the lid was open you could access three pretty heavy duty alligator clips and a fuse, closing the lid connected the power. They made temporary connection a breeze.
Are these still around? I want one! |
