Default HP 4944A TIMS question

I'm curious if anyone has ever used an HP 4944A Transmission Impairment Measuring Set with audio equipment.

It seems to be able to do distortion measurements and what not. I'm assuming with some load matching it would be possible.

The HP 4944 TIMS is a voiceband only test set, designed for use on analog baseband Telco circuits of approx. 300 to 3200 Hz. I used this set back in the late 1970s when it was the "state of the art" in portable test sets and it's claim to fame was that it was much smaller than the HP 4940 TIMS (which was deemed "portable" only because it had a handle) and replaced about 6 individual test sets that had to be carted in and out of a customer's location! The distortion test function is a 4-tone voiceband non-linear distortion test aimed primarily at testing the WeCo D1A & D1B Channel Bank (T Carrier) that was heavily used at the time, as the previous harmonic distortion test used with analog carrier systems by launching 700 Hz and looking for the second and third harmonics with a selective voltmeter did not give accurate distortion test results on these first-generation digital T carrier systems when maladjusted or malfunctioning. Sorry to say this was a fine voice grade test set it is of little use in testing wideband audio devices, IMHO.
