I have been given a Coutant LQT 200 lab power supply.
It's a variable DC unit , dual output ,tracking , master and slave, 0-15 V at 0-2 amp per side. Could someone explain what the tracking function would be used for please ? I can see how it works but not what it would be used for , apart from maybe to supply + and - rails on op amps etc |

Well, that is exactly what it would be used for.
Let's say we have a circuit set up running on +10 and -10v. And we want to see how it might perform on +15 and -15v. A tracking supply makes it as simple as turning one knob. Independent supplies means we would have to set one then match the other to it. |

Thanks for the clarification. It did not immediately occur to me as I do not have much to do with circuit building using op amps etc.
