Hi all,
I'm still obsessed with making precise THD measurements..so here goes: What would you recommend? http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...MEWA:IT&ih=008 or amber 5500 or should I be just happy with a cheaper HP339? |

IMO, there's no such thing as a precise THD measurement. The more you make, the more you'll realize this. Low noise and distortion floor is important. If you design amps using Doug Self's principles, few analyzers will be good enough alone to see what you're doing. I don't know much about the units you're looking at- check the specs to see what they can do. The prices seem reasonable if they actually sell for near that. If you want a challenging project, the Bob Cordell analyzer on his site is hard to beat. That's what I've been using for years. Or, just use a 339 and team it up with a PC based spectrum analyzer. There was a large message thread on this topic within the last few weeks you might search for.

I think, Conrad suggested you the right thing. Instead of going for other one's, the best thing is to use your HP339 with spectrum analyzer.
