TEK 475A W/O DM44 option?

Was model 475A scope ever offered by Tektronix without the DM44 option? I have seen few 475A's on eBay without the DM44. I'm wondering if these are factory originals or refurbished units with a plain cover & DM44 removed?

Most were sold without the meter. Its a nice option but not as useful as a separate meter.

option -45 add $360 (w/o temperature probe)

We had both varieties where I worked. As Demian said it wasn't as good as the better handheld meters. But we always had our scopes on scopemobile carts so this way we never had to go find a meter or a place to put one. One feature that it had was very useful. The DM44 would also display time offset between channels which made it very useful to check for adequate setup time in asynchronous interfaces. CH1 on input, CH2 on output, turn the knob to slide one trace until the edges lined up and the numeric display would tell you the time differential.

Thank you for sharing this information. I have a 475A without the DM44. If I were to one (not sure if I've seen one sold alone) is lot of expertise required to integrate it with the scope?

Adding a DM44

Don't know, I never had to add one.

The service manual for the DM44 shows the interconnections between the meter unit and the host scope. It doesn't look too hard.

question on TEK differential probe

Are you familiar with differential probe TEK P6046? I'm considering one to test laptop circuits and low power audio amps.

- Will a probe like this accept only proprietary extensions?

- Is it more cost effective to invest in something more modern - input max voltage on this is 25 Volts.

I`ve played about a bit with a DM44 on a 465, which is very similar. Apart from the electrical side, which is significant, you would also need the cutaway case, or hack the existing one and then the accessories bag wouldn`t fit.
