Default Battery won't charge

Hi all, I have a Bosch cordless screwdriver with to dead batteries. I've froze both and one battery charged an eventually failed. My dilemma is my tool is new, but I have seperated from my wife and my driver was left at her place for a year. My son bought it over the other day, but I cant get the batteries to hold charge. A Google threw up freezing, but wanted to know if you had another suggestion. Its only had a couple of months light use

Thanks Mike

If they r NiCds, corrosion is an issue.

New is no guarantee of good. Parts can fail at any time.

Hi Deafuser,
Here's a link,,,,,Rebuilding the Makita Battery Pack
I used ni-cad in RC airplanes when they die they all go at once the pack is balanced,I replaced packs once a year ,no matter if they still worked or not the charge /discharge Knee gets shorter with age,If you do get new get lithium-ion ones they last 2 times as long,
And today is SALE day ,so go get'em,lol.
Just my 2 cents,
NS
