Talking Multimeter

Anyone ever use a talking multimeter? I'm sure this will get lots of jokes. But seriously...
About 20 years ago Radio Shack had one. When they discontinued it, it was on sale at a low price and I tried to get one, but none to be had.

Always thought it would be handy. If your metering a tight spot, might be nice not to have to look at the meter.

There are some out there for not much money. Just wondering if anyone has used one and if you like it.

agilent do a meter with a remote display unit, expensive though!

Google (no insult, please) came up with this: TALKING DIGITAL MULTI METER WITH LIGHTED LEADS-MPJA, Inc. and if this is real it's not even that expensive! Apparently not the only one on the market.

I would have never thought of a talking multimeter, ha. Makes more sense than a talking watch methinks...

Yeah Dave, that's the one that Google led me too also.

I might just take the plunge. For basic stuff, it could be useful.

Yeah, there's nothing like turning your head to look at the meter and causing the probe to slip on a live circuit. I know I've done it a few times.

Another option might be the Fluke 233 which has a remote display. The small display can be held in your hand or even attached to a visor. The down side is that they are around $260.

Buy a probe DMM.

That's exactly what I thought when I read Anonymous1's reply. According to his book "Valve Amplifiers" Morgan Jones seem to like pen type multimeters for that exact reason.
