SLN Pre-Amp - Elektor Aug 1982

2 Attachment(s)
I want to attempt building this phono pre-amp (see attached schem).

Any tips and ideas on how to possibly improve the circuit?

I am going to configue it for MC cartridges.

Hi GD

Isn't that a MC circuit?

Hi Shaun

It is switchable... by changing two resistors... R1 & R14

+55db of gain from an LTP+VAS single stage amp sounds quite ambitious.

Andrew

A friend of mine built the circuit and used it with a Denon DL103 MC cartridge.

Any suggestions?

You'll have to add another stage; split the gain stages. Actually, that stage can be added in front of a regular MM preamp.

Shaun

Care to post a block diagram of your suggestion?

What if the pre-amp works just like that?

It does. It has an equalisation network. Sorry, I was not thinking. But nevertheless, it should be followed by another stage that excludes the equaliser.

The last time we looked at this circuit, there was another similar one that had an additional op amp for a DC servo. I had ideas of using them together. But I can't seem to find that other circuit right now...

Another full stage sans RIAA?
