Budhi, Your results are excellent.
Today I will do the first run of my projector after installing the LCD screen. I believe it will require lots of tweaking to get good image. I'll post some pics once I have achieved a watachble image.

Best regards,
Nitin.

Thumbs up Awesome

Dear Budhi, Maks0001, Mastero, powers and all of you great work hats off,

Never in my wildest dream had I thought that making a DIY projector is possible and that too in India where you don’t get the parts you want. I am really inspired and encouraged seeing this thread to make my own always wanted to buy a LCD projector for myself as I love to see movies at home, only the money was the barrier. Now I am really happy to know that it is possible under 10000 Rs. Currently I am building a 7 channel home theater based on lm3886 chips and custom made speakers. Plan to start the projector project as soon as my current project is completed.

Also got a few questions:

1) What is the minimum focusing distance between the projector and screen with the triplet lens you people use? (Even a 50 inch screen will make me happy but want it bright to use in day time also)

2) Is it possible to mount the projector on the ceiling with some sort of key stone adjustment? Or the projector always has to be fixed at height which will be the center of the screen?

3) What will be the rough response time in ms and contrast ratio for the LCD screen for use in the projector? (Suitable for watching movies)

Sorry if I asked too much very new to this.

I am working in Bangalore as a hardware designer so I think I can help regarding electronics if any one needs help. I would like to visit any one in Bangalore who has built the projector so I can get a feel of it and understand the efforts required to make it. I hope I can build one with all of your advice and help.

Regards,
Gitesh

Hey guys,
at last I found out a place in bangalore where you can get everything right from fresnels, triplets to heat absorbing filters.
Here's their link :
http://www.opticsindia.com
I gave the specification and asked for the quotation. They said they'll revert back tomorrow. Let's see...

Hi Gitesh,
For your first question here's a file using which you can calculate your throw distance.
