Default Is this right?

Thank you "Mikey p" for pointing my attention to the tools available at
Luman Lab for focal length calculator and precondenser.

I made an attempt to use the Focal Length Calculator but am not sure if I
used the tool properly. So here are the values what I entered and what I
got as the results.

Can anyone make sure if they make sense or are close to correct value so I
can atleast order my Fresnel Lense.

LCD: 19 Inchse
Fresnel FL: 330mm
Triplet FL: 550mm
Fresnel Gap: 1 Inches
LCD Distance: 661.09599 mm ~ 26.027 Inches
Screen Distance: 10.5706 Feet
Screen: 100 Inches

Lcd 19 inch
Triplet should be entered as 560mm (22inch = 558.9mm)
Fresnel gap 1 inch
Lcd distance to triplet is 669mm
Since the fresnel sits 1 inch (25mm) in front of the lcd: 669 - 25 = 644mm fresnel to triplet-- 650mm fresnel is an excellent match
Screen diagonal 100 inches
Screen distance 11.1 feet
This is assuming you want a split design.

Greetings,

Thanks again "Mikey p"

First of all I lost that 22" Lens on bidding. Last night I has set my bid to $65.99 and had left thinking that that would be a good price. However, someone had bid just before the auction ended.

Yes. I was considering split design. However, I did not know would would be the best designs to consider in my case?

Anyways I am do understand how you went about finding 650mm to be the best match for the Triplet. However am not sure why you used

Where did 22" come from? Is that the lens that I was bidding on?

Thanks again.

Yes, 22 inches was the focal length of the ebay lens, which is what you enter into the focal length calculator. Since you lost the auction, your options are to wait for another one to show up again, or use the LumenLab lens which is said to work with 19 inch widescreen LCDs. I contacted L.L. support to see what they say about the lens working with your 4x3 aspect ratio Dell. You might reconsider stripping your monitir until you find a lens that will work with it. Just my 2 cents. I'll post what L.L. says about thier Pro Lens.

I stripped my LCD and am in process of building the frame for it. Since I broke my Digital Camera, I am taking pics with the regular old fashion one so will post pics when I get them processed.

Yeah since I lost that auction , I was pretty tempted to buy the "Pro Projection Lens Triplet" and am not sue if thats is going to work. But till I figure things out clearly, I thought it would be a good idea to wait before I order anything.

Primary goal right now is to build a nice frame out of the lcd and design the box thinking that the Lumen Lab Calculator is right, so I am going to make an attemp to desin the box and pots the pics and then hopefully everyone can post things that would need change etc.

Default Success

Greetings,

I finally have some pics to share.

I stripped out my Dell 1905 LCD and boy it was a pain full process, but I made it, after some hours of work I built a frame for my LCD. There are pics on how I took it apart but I will post them later.

Question 1

I plugged in my monitor and I know for sure I positioned it right so how come the picture on my LCD is inverted. Is it suppose to be that way?

If it's inverted (upside down) then it's not positioned correctly, if you're looking at the lcd only, without any optics. I got a responce from L.L. about thier Pro lens. It will work with a 19 inch 4x3 aspect ratio. At least now you know for sure there is a lens that will work.

Huh?

I thought that the side of the LCD facing the projection lens was supposed to be upside down and backwards (in other words, the front of the LCD facing the lamp and top and bottom switched) because the projection lens switches the image back the right way again.

Did I just read it wrong?

He's not looking at it with any optics involved. It's just the lcd by itself, is how I understand his comments.

Greetings,

Sorry guys for making it confussing.

Yes that is correct Mikey, I am looking at it just as a LCD prespective.

Basically I ripped appart my LCD and built a frame for it, and placed the LCD by itself in the frame I built and powered it up to test it to check if it still works ok.

When I looked at the picture it was upside down. Not knowing how any part of the Optics work in LCD design, was worried if I made any mistake so I asked if it was suppose to be that way.
