Backlight LCD panel: Can it work alone?

Hi

I know it's not the most comon question, but can you make the backlight panel give light without it beeing connect to the main LCD circuits? I've dismantled a samsung 151s to do a projector. Tomorrow, or the day after I'll post (if I can) an How-to guide to dismantle the 151s.

But I was just wandering... can I connect it to any kind of power to use it like a normal light?

Yeah it should work fine. Just find out what voltage and current is running through them find a powersupply with that voltage and enough current and it should work ok.

hey

yeah you could but if ur building a projector the output will not be near enough to project a decent image. you need a bulb with at least 250 watts

by a normal lamp, i mean normal.... like to light up something... not to use it in the projector... I was thinking puting ir under a glass table, with some color filters to give a cool ambient effect... but right now I'm concentrating on the projector side of the things. I was just wandering if anyone had done that, how, and espcialy, in the 151s.
