It's not a DIY related question, but someone here might know the solution. I purchased a broken Toshiba TLP-550, it was supposed to have only dead lamp, but today I managed to start it up with a temporary 35W halogen reflector, and the result is like in the picture. This is a blue background, it's supposed to be all blue, there should be no red. This huge red patch is pernanently present, no matter of the video contents. There is a video projection (just too dark to take photos), but this red patch is always there.

Does anybody think it can be fixed? Looks like a thermal damage of some optical part, maybe polarizer, or maybe LCD itself?

Regards

Wrong bulb color temp.
Halogens are closer to the red spectrum.
You need to get a higher temp bulb.
Also the incadesent filament that turns bright red is probably seen by the diffusion pannel. move the bulb and get the reflected light to it. This is why almost all of them use florescent tubes. Check ebay for a shattered lcd that still lights up. Be sure to note the wafers and there orientation and order.
