from wal mart.(i searched the forum couldnt find the answers for these questions) Has anyone taken this lcd apart and is it easy? Does the lcd have to run threw my pc isnt there a little box or something
i can buy to plug the monitor into and that has a video in (for my xbox 360) vga in (for the monitor) and a tv tuner for my cable tv also?

If I understand your meaning correctly, no, you would not need to use a tower (computer) to use the monitor. The input (be it cable, svideo, vga, component, et cetera) is processed by the viewsonic and output directly to your monitor.
About cheaper options, yes:

This doesn't have the component HD input, thus the lower cost (you can use a Xbox 360 vga cable to hook up to your monitor).
Unfortunately, it's only got one VGA input, so you'd either need to use that for your xbox 360 and use dvi from computer to monitor (assuming your computer and monitor have those connections), or buy a vga switching device to switch between xbox 360 and your computer.
That one is $90 new, at Amazon, but you could probably find it cheaper used. I've also found other contenders, such as a N4 (I believe) at Best Buy for $70 (it was an open box, though), and there are other cheap options, too. Just google stuff like "line doubler with tuner" or "external tuner", and you'll find some alternatives. Unfortunately, if you ask me, it's too hard to find these products online and in stores, despite their inherent usefulness.

I can't say if this monitor is easy to dissasemble. But i have one thing that i hope the mods read. Maybe there could be a list built of all the LCD's used, maybe a graph, with all the pertinent information, and some other info, like if the insides are easy or hard to work with. maybe even tools needed. But mainly just a list saying, this LCD works, this one doesn't. Plus the other things like pitch and so forth.
But to answer a bit of your question, no one can really tell you. You just open it up and see. Work slowly, and make sure you don't tear any ribbon cables. Thats the worste. Some LCD's parts inside have tooo short a cables to move the parts out of the way for use as a projector. I've never had this problem, but i believe there is a fix for it, where people have extended the cables. So if you get that problem, look into cable extenders.

just to let everyone know the xpert tv box is cheaper on ebay. i had to buy a new one sence i sold a projection panel i had and forgot i had my tv box in the case and ofcorse the guy wouldnt respond when i asked if he could return it that i would refund his full shipping. i payed $80 for it but my new one was $67 total http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=5201085252&rd=1&sspagename=STRK:MEWA:IT&rd=1 its a great box
