Default Is a DIY possible with a 19" LCD?

I just so happen to have a nice 19" LCD which works great, except that the backlight is going out. It occurred to me that it was the perfect candidate to have a really awesome DIY projector, but I'm having a hard time finding any options for a screen this big.

The actual dimensions are 11.4" X 15.2" by my calculations, and there certainly aren't any ready-made overhead projectors that big. So, a few questions:
  • Any ideas on how to make this into a (relatively small) projector?
  • Are the FOV restrictions on all the bulbs too limiting? Is this impossible?
  • About how much would this run me, and how big would it end up?

I'm in a (large) dorm room right now, so size is an issue, though I could easily find space for a normal overhead projector.

Thanks!
