Is a DIY possible with a 19" LCD?

I just so happen to have a nice 19" LCD which works great, except that the backlight is going out. It occurred to me that it was the perfect candidate to have a really awesome DIY projector, but I'm having a hard time finding any options for a screen this big.

The actual dimensions are 11.4" X 15.2" by my calculations, and there certainly aren't any ready-made overhead projectors that big. So, a few questions:

Any ideas on how to make this into a (relatively small) projector?
Are the FOV restrictions on all the bulbs too limiting? Is this impossible?
About how much would this run me, and how big would it end up?

I'm in a (large) dorm room right now, so size is an issue, though I could easily find space for a normal overhead projector.

I suggest you check out the Lumenlab Pro lenses that are finally arriving.
