Default Oh Dear, Back to the drawing board

I have been using a 250W OHP with a 5" Goodmans portable DVD Player/Screen.

I originaly intended to use my nveiw 1024/726 LCD monitor but after taking it apart I relized i needed to extened the FFC cable before this was possible, Without the extension half the screen would be blocked by circut boards. I had tested it like this and was very impressed with the quality of the image i could partialy see. today i finally got my FFC extensions and was very excited, before trying to extend the FFC cables I gave the LCD one more test on the OHP just to make sure, and it all worked fine, so I got on with trying to extend the FFC. This was a bit tricky but after a while i managed to extened the cable to the right lenth.

So I hook it up to the PC turn the power on and........... nothing, not a sausage!! The screen didnt come on atall, the power switch turned green so i know the power is on. Oh well i thought, must have messed up the extensions - so I disconected the extensions and connected it back how it was originally, But I still get nothing come up on the screen so i know its not the extensions.

I have been so so so so extra carefull with the screen and even tested it before i extended the cables and it was all good, I dont understadn how its not working now

I now need to buy a new 15" LCD (( can nyone recomend one that dont need FFC extension !!

Unless you saw a spark or the magic smoke came out of the components(had a short circuit) chances are that your panel still works.

One of my panels died in a short, the next one didn't has managed to stay alive, but couldn't get 2 6 inch FFC cables to connect together with the connectors. Managed to get a single 6 inch one, but broke one of the connectors trying to put the cable in end to end.

Try again!

I saw no sparks nor smelt that electrical smoke smell (or any of other smoke smell)

It worked 100% fine before i tryed to extend the FFC cable, i managed to extend the FFC and the connection looked fine but it didnt work.

Takeing away the FFC extension and wireing it back up how it was originaly didnt do anything, even without FFC extension the panel still wont work.

I do get stuff come up on the screen now, its very dark cloundy effect (no actual picture just a mess) ?? and a few vertical colored lines.

My dad is away on holiday and has teken the digital camera with him so i cant post screen shots atm

Im really really disapointed as i have been using a goodmans portable dvdplayer/screen with a terrible res projecting a 5ft image, I have not been able to watch any films or TV shows due to the **** poor image quality, only a few cartoons are watchable.
I have been very much looking forward to geting my 15" 1024x724 LCD Monitor on the OHP and finally been able to see a half decent picture, getting my FFC extensions threw in the post was like waking up on christmas morning as a kid!!!!! :P

I wont allow this to put me off building a PJ as I have already seen the potential with the bits I have.

On a Side note what would the image from this LCD look like if i was projecting a 4-5ft image.........

Its only a 8" panel, i know it wont look as good as a 1024x724 15" but the distance from my back wall to my screen would be perfect for this LCD as it would fit my 5ft screen perfectly!! with my 5" goodmans i can only get a 3ft image from the back wall :/

System: TV Pal, AV, NTSC
Colour: TFT-LCD
Screen Size, Sharp 8"
Pixels 640 x 480
Mains Connection
VGA for link to PC
AV via USB for linking to your PC or Games Console
USB Lead
Remote Control
