Ik heb op e-bay gezocht: nothing interesting, only one of those older psone lcd's... 70€... I feel like I really shouldn't have bought it. Die zwier ik meteen weer ebay op.
I am looking for a at least 640*480 but most importantly: it shouldn't cost too much. Is there a solution for less than 250€? I heard really nice things about the nview series. Only problem: I now use a 5.6" lcd and I cant project the corners... a bigger lcd would be even worse? I might use another fresnel? Maar dat zijn problemen voor achteraf eigenlijk

I'd feel terrible if they got damaged in shipment I'm crossing my fingers that my panel get's here in good shape. I've heard there is something "magical" that seems to nuke panels when they cross the Canada/US border (see couriers/mailhandlers). I got my controller from Spectrah http://www.spectrah.com/product.htm I am an OEM and have other (business) uses for the card I selected so had little trouble securing a card from them. I chose the LD S270M, however they have a pretty good sellection to choose from. If you like we can wait to see how mine works out, if it works well maybe I can order a few more for the DIY folks. Sort of set up a "bulk buy" to achieve lower pricing. ( I don't want to make money on this, but will help the group if it's a wanted/do able thing) Any thoughts on this idea folks? zardoz |

I never really paid too much attention to the "supported panel list" till now. I've gone through Spectrah's web site and all of the controller's that they have showing TTL and LVDS capabillity have the same supported panel list as follows...
LVDS Panel support LG LP121S3 Chi-Mei N141X201 NEC NL10276AC30-04 10.4 inch LCD Panel NEC NL6448AC33-18 Sharp LQ10D42 LG 104V2 12.1 inch LCD Panel Sharp LQ121S1DG11, LQ12S41, LQ12S31 NEC NL8060AC31-12 LG LB121S1 ADI AA121SK02 Torisan TM121SV-02L01 Toshiba LTM12C275A 15 inch LCD Panel Sharp LQ150X1DG11 Samsung LT150X1-151 Toshiba LTM15C151A LG LM151X2 The only exception to the rule seems to be the ARV line-up which seems to support much larger panels. I think this further supports my theory that they only tested panels that they "had on hand/went and bought" and called it a day on panel testing once they had a decent sellection of various sized panels from various makers. Thoughts? zardoz |

I'm a little concerned as to whether or not the ARV's can handle a 15" UXGA panel. I emailed them so I should find out soon.

The "smaller than listed" screen question and the cost were my concern's with the ARV lineup. I kept in mind the average costs for panels both locally and on-line.
It became apparent prety quickly that if I was to look for a super high res laptop screen I was going to pay nearly the same price as for a 15 inch LCD desk monitor. I buy computer gear at wholesale and the best I could find with my local suppliers was $426.00 my cost...before taxes for a Rad5...that I'm gonna tear apart and scrap my warranty? I suppose what I'm trying to say is....there must be a "law of diminishing returns" in the DIY world, I don't think it can be escaped. I look at what we are messing with...it's touchy stuff. It wont be misshandled twice. Then I decide how much of my project dollars are going to go towards the "touchy stuff" and "the stuff that gets toasted as normal wear N tear" Then when I can be sure that I'll get X amount of benefit for X amount of more money for this particular project I might go further than the TTL panel. I'm not expecting miracles....just something to occupy my time. If desktop LCD's get cheap in Canada like they are in the US and some other countries I'm buying one ( and maybe a viewsonic interface ) zardoz |

Was that $426 for a 15" 1600x1200 screen? If so, that's an excellent price, but you'd be limited to VGA input (which is fine for most people). Of course, make sure the contrast ratio and the response time are good.
