I for one did not get the impression that remp was trying to say "the connectors and pinouts of all LVDS panels will match all LVDS controllers".
I really dont see how you can predict the future of DVI (seeing as you didnt know that DVI comes in more than one flavour) or the future of Nvidia based video cards. The information I got from the preceeding posts was that Dell is going to use only LVDS panels "inside" their monitors... no mention there of connecting the panel to the computer with LVDS... personally I'd say they are using DVI to get to the monitor then using the LVDS standard to actually feed the panel.

remp and exipnos good research folks!

Where did you get that from? There is only one (DVD-I) for what I'm talking about. He said that DVI is not a standard. It is.

No I never said any LVDS will fit or connect to any other LVDS.

There are several flavours of LVDS
LVDS 1
LVDS 2
LVDS 3

Different connectors and so on.
The thing is we are getting a handle on this.

Lifter If you are going to quote me how about quoting me what I said , not what you think I said

This is what I said
So the much touted DVI standard may not be so standard after all. I am not surprised. Asians know how to hook up panels and get them to communicate at high speed. They have been doing it for years with success in the LVDS standard. You would think panel manufacturers could work out ONE standard and stick to it.

You quoted me as saying DVI is not a standard.

Big difference between what I said and what you said.

Anyway no one can say that XX is a standard. There have been heaps of standards before this and they have all been modified one way or another.

So let me get this straight Lifter. If you needed a good panel and Hello its a DELL and it had a LVDS connection you would not be open minded and look at it as a possibility because it does not have a DVI-D connector. Is that what you are saying.

Thats why I think you are a jerk. You keep trying to pick holes in things and what people say. All of us here are interested in going forward not backwards.
On page 10 I posted nearly a whole page of good solid progress that everyone has contributed, except you.
I take a great deal of pride in making progress and so do the other guys. Its interesting and by using our brains we have a chance of success. Every other thread or forum I have seen says you cannot do it but we can. With you or without you. Won't make any difference.

I would like to point out that DVI-D has indeed 24 pins (even if it wont work) http://www.ati.com/support/connector...sfordvi-d.html

You are correct though DVI-I has 29 pins http://www.ati.com/support/connector...sfordvi-i.html

Does this look familiar? You had some info to share with us, but chose not to. You told me I was wrong in my pin count...came off as this expert in "conectivity" and didnt even blink when I shoved the links to DVI pinouts under your nose and proved that there is a DVI with only 24 pins. You assume that we must all be morons by the way you post to us. If we were toe to toe and you were condecending to me as you were when you told me that a keyboard would plug into an Svideo port (like I was some sort of idiot) we would be doing more than talking ....

wake up lifter...it was all just a bad dream...or are you like this in person also?

I have had a word with the moderators about Lifter and the story is if he continues being a negative influence ( a pest see moderator statement) we can ask for him to be sin binned.

I vote for a sin bin for Lifter on the grounds that every time he posts the thread goes to hell and we have to waste time setting him straight.
