Default Flex Cable

Hi, I'm looking for a replacement part on my diy projector. Its a 15" vg150 viewsonic lcd monitor on a generic projector. I ripped the flex cable connecting the main lcd module to the screen. I've been googling it for awhile, emailed viewsonic and a few other websites. Does anyone know where I can buy flex cables?

you can buy them from lumenlab or diybuildergroup, but you need to know the contact number and the pitch.

Thanks, but I looked at the cable and it looks like its 80 pin, which neither store sell. not sure about the pitch, assuming .5.

If that's the mylar cable that goes from a circuit board to the actual glass of the LCD screen, I'd say you're pretty much screwed. If it's a cable that goes between circuit boards, you're less screwed but it's still not a commonly stocked cable. I get my flex connectors and cables from Digi-Key, and the most conductors they have is 50.

Shoot, I'll guess I'll have to pick up a broken viewsonic monitor and just take the cable inside.

hey i have the exact same lcd; viewsonic v150. which cable broke? on the flat long boards that run along the top/sides to the glass? or the one from the flat long board to the floating circuitboard?

btw- that monitor is decent, but the contrast is rather low, it's kinda slow refreshing too. works well, but i'd rather go for something a bit better in performance.

mine was cheap on ebay ~$125 (second-hand/used).

if i were you, check out Waaalmart. They have a 15inch LCD for about $187 last time i was there, they also usually have a "discount" or "clearance" section in the electronics where you can get an openbox 15lcd for cheaper.

the main point there being that if you strip the lcd and somehow break a cable, you can put it back together, take it back to walmart and get a replacement. or your money back.
