Hi everyone,
I am about to build my 1st projector (not OHP), and bought yesterday the "Super 8inch Wide Screen TFT LCD monitor" off EBay, a good price i think. link below. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...e=STRK:MEWN:IT Has anyone else got one of these? How does it perform to the 7" Lilliput LCD, that every1 else seems to have? I noticed that the LCD I bought only has component inputs, will it be possible to connect my PC to the LCD with one of those vga converter thingys, if so which ones are good: performing good and not too expensive??? Last question.....can anyone also advise me on what the components are like in the PICO delux kit from the diyprojector company: http://www.diyprojectorcompany.com/c...products_id=72 ....and what other places do components at good prices. Any ideas on components I can use such as lenses etc would be Very Much appreciated. Cheers, Merley. |

A few things aren't adding up here.
- Either the pic is wrong or that monitor isn't widescreen~16:9, that pic shows an lcd with a 4:3 aspect ratio, not really a big deal imho. - it has "336960 dots" which really isn't comparable to a lilliput PQ - it doesn't have component inputs but rather it has composite and svideo (component>s-video>composite, so make sure to use s-video) You can power this monitor directly from the svideo/tv-out port from your video card, just make sure you don't use 100 feet of low quality cable. I forget the exchange rate to US$ but i'm fairly sure you got a good deal on the lcd(?). Sorry but i have no experience with diyprojector company's components. G'luck and be sure to let us know how it strips

Hey, Welcome to the forum!
I agree with what sjetski71 said, the monitor looks like a 4:3, and the resolution is quite low. Still should be ok for a first projector! Svideo is your best bet. If your computer's video card has TV output, just use that to plug it in. I DONT see how you can POWER this monitor directly from the tv out on your computer, perhaps connect it directly, but it will need "POWER" from a power converter. The price is around 100USD I think... Good luck on stripping it, don't know if its possible... Post back with progress! Cheers, Alex
