Anyone with a Proxima DP2XXX series

Anyone have a Proxima DP2XXX series? I'm about to get one, and i want to know if i can get away without using the adjustable mirror on top and position the projector on the wall so it takes up less space and projects straight through the lens....is this possible, are there any bad side effects that i can expect?

I have a dp2300. I have used it without the mirror to project on the celing in my bedroom (very cool.) I don't know if it will give you any problems though. I know the bulb gets very hot, but if it is mounted with the back of the projector facing up it shouldn't be any trouble.
The plus side is, you can get the extended life bulbs from www.topbulb.com for $18.95 and free shiping.( search for "fxl" )

what do you consider extended life....how many hours.....a friend on the forum pointed me in the direction of FXL bulbs for 6.XX$
so it would have to be a lot of hours to be worth it.....looking at converting to a small MH eventually though

The regular bulbs are good for 50 hours each

The extended life bulbs are good for twice that.

Could you tell me where to get the bulbs for $6.XX each?

If it helps, the projector works without the bulbs in and the safty interlock is easily bypassed so it shouldn't be too hard to modify the projector. But I have found that the fxl bulb in it is adequite to project in moderate ambient light so you might find it easier to use the pj as is. especialy since the bulbs are so cheap.

Yep, thats what i was thinking.....since to use a MH i would be spending a lot more just to modify it......wich would really just kill the price....at 7$ a bulb i can buy enough to last the projector for a year....and then just buy a svga or better....its not worth it to go metal halide on something this old
