Someone is locally selling a MP1400 for $500 obo. It's only 800x600, which is a downer, but for movies that's fine with me.
Bulb life is 1500 hours, and it's said to have 180 hours so far. That's a good bit of life left. However, at $500 for a new lamp, that's as much as the projector!
So, after the lamp dies, and assuming I have the cajones to take it apart, would it be possible to run it with a new light engine in a new casing? I know new projectors can be bought for $800, and this is lower in lumens, so does anyone have opinions on whether or not $450 would be a good price for this? it's nice and small.
