Turns out the OHP was heating up my panel so I took out the speaker from the panel, put in an extra cooling fan, and drilled some breathing holes in the front of the panel so now it runs cooler.

Hi everybody!
I'm thinking about building an independent projector based on iPod Nano (3g). It has small (2") screen with relatively high resolution (320x240) and it is very bright with standard backlight (someone built projector without ingerention to ipod: http://www.engadget.com/2008/03/03/d...oosts-utility/ ). Did anybody try to adapt Nano's lcd to use it in normal projector? How about results? I don't want to destroy display if it is bad for projector. |

320 by 240 is relatively high for a tiny LCD screen, but it wouldn't be very nice for the larger image want from projection. Regular NTSC TV is more like 560 by 488, for the luminance. When you try to make a standard definition TV projector with a large image you see those big pixels in the image. The 320 by 240 image will be much worse.
But it would be very nice to have a higher resolution 2" to 4" LCD: Then you could use CRT-projector lenses that are plentiful and go for around $10 on ebay. Or even $0 for three if you can find an old junked CRT projector sitting on the curb on garbage collection day! |
