Part 1: Gathering the essentials.
I've ordered a replacement for the Fujinon copy lens from Surplus shed for the same price. Here are the specs: B&L f/4.5. 9-1/2" focal length. Clear lens diameter is 63mm I also ordered this: 100MM DIA DCX LENS, 200MM FL for the condenser lens. Still working on the bulb and reflector. Probably go with the Norpro mixing bowl. When I recieve the B&L copy lens, I will post some pics of it. Surplus Shed does not have this lens listed on their web page. They said the lenses will ship out tomorrow. Should just take a day or so since I live in NY and they are in PA. |

Dear Joe Schmo:
I think you should write a web page for this and post a link to it when you are completely done. If not, this is going to become one tedious thread. |

I agree.
![]() Just wanted to keep ya's posted about the lens cause I did say I was going to post some pics of it. Haven't seen the lens myself and hope it's as good as the Fujinon copy lens. |

Well here's the lens. There was some snafu with my post office on the delivery. Surplus Shed sent it priority postal and it wasn't their fault for the delay, bloody post office.
I'm also working on my site design so I'll post the pics that I've uploaded already.Pics are taken with my Toshiba PDR-2300 (very nice digital camera I might add). |

Here's some samples of giving the lens a test run with a makeshift setup. I used an Xray to simulate an LCD panel (it was the only thing on hand from putting together a presentation for a Doctor).
Equipment: 1: Xray viewing panel (24.5" w x 14" h) with 2 F20T12-D 20 watt daylight flourescent bulbs. 2: Xray 8"x10" (200mm x 270mm) 3: B&L Copy lens 4: 6ft da-lite projector screen. Panel with Xray http://mysite.verizon.net/vze3svsf/sample/scene6.jpg Projector screen http://mysite.verizon.net/vze3svsf/sample/scene8.jpg Xray panel w lens in front before sealing off light leakage http://mysite.verizon.net/vze3svsf/sample/scene4.jpg Sample brightness of Panel and Xray http://mysite.verizon.net/vze3svsf/sample/scene5.jpg Thru the lens http://mysite.verizon.net/vze3svsf/sample/scene3.jpg Sample projected image of what it looked like on the screen. The actual image was alot clearer and more bluer to the true color of the Xray but is represents the brightness very good. http://mysite.verizon.net/vze3svsf/s...inal_image.jpg The Xray projected image was in perfect focus and very crisp thru it's entire dimension. I could actually stand there close to the screen and see the smallest details of the bone structure. If it was alot brighter, it would have been perfect. Will do excellent on the lilliput LCD panels. Next to get some color transparencies to try out it's color rendering. |

I'm working on designing the light box and came across this site for Aspheric Condensor Lenses since this seems to be the way to go from reading the other threads to control quality and color.
http://www.alignoptics.com/featured.html#condenser. Quote:
Here's the link for the diameters and focal lengths http://www.alignoptics.com/aspheric-...er-lenses.html I want to make a system that does not require fresnel lenses. This is what I am aiming for (pic from edmund scientific): Also, does anyone have the actual dimension of the lilliput 7" lcd panel itself without the casing. |

I did find the operating temperature for the B270 glass that these condensors are made of which is 250 deg C. http://www.alignoptics.com/materials.html
