to clear my head-
your light source is first striking a glass plate. is this for diffusion or another reason?the plate you see is an ir/uv filter

there are a number of panels surrounding the area between the light source and lcd that are not in the path of light. are they reflectors to gather light that has scattered in hope of increasing light output?(ie gathering light lost and redirecting toward lcd again)
this are wooden plates avoid bouncing light to the objective lens and lead cool air to the light engine

is the lcd controller board located below and left of the lens mounted to the bottom of the box??yeah, its mounted on the bottom

could you have not used a mirror at all and had the light path just be from light source to lcd to lens? as in a straight line? lcd can be reversed to corrct picture right??COLOR=crimson]i used that mirror to shorten the enclosure. straight would make the enclosure longer. the lcd has no osd to turn and flip the image. you have to think twice before tightening :-)[/COLOR]

the lens type used and generally speaking required I woudnt know much about... I understand concave and convex thats about it. what is special about these lens in use? I have/had a number of lens assemblys from rear projection big screen tvs do you think these are what is required?the lens is a common vari-focus lens used in ohp's. lenses from rearpro's could be used too depending on focusing length. the should have at least a fl corresponding the diagonal of the desired lcd.

your box looks vary profesional as apposed to the ones people talk about/do here.....

great accomplishment I will keep reading and thinking about your work for some time................
Grant

Default zoom mod

I'm interested in the zoom mod you've made. By moving the objective lens closer/away from the focal point, aren't you also affecting the focus on the screen? This is working with your varifocus lens, but would it work with a fixed triplet lens?

yeah, by moving the objective closer/away the pj's size alters. to get ist crisp turn the lever of the vari-focal objective.

no buddy, it wont work with a fixed triplet coz it has a fixed focus.

hello naj,

the sub-d 15-pin output delivers VGA (800x600) respectively compressed XGA (1024x768) reso.

so, connect ur dvd to RCA in and vga-out to your liliput screen. that's it.

thank ya.
the IR/UV shield is from a window glass. It has a silver coating on one side. These glasses are used in windows to protect from heat. They transmit normal light and block IR. Dunno where to get this in the U.S., but I think you can get more information if you go to a glazier and ask for it.

The coated side must show to the light. You can measure a resistance of some hundred kiloohms on the coated side to find out the coated site. I hope this helps....
